EBBW VALE WOMAN FOUND GUILTY OF STARVING AND NEGLECTING NINE PONIES
Lisa Wall, an Irish traveller married to Leroy Wall (who has a conviction for animal abuse), had pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of cruelty to nine ponies, including starvation and neglect.
It was revealed she failed to ensure the ponies' needs were met in terms of suitable environment, diet, medical care, and protection from disease, specifically lice infestation.
She was convicted after a trial of animal cruelty charges.
The ponies were found in poor condition and living in an unsuitable environment on 19 April 2025, some in thin condition with visible spines.
A second trial convicted her of failing to provide veterinary treatment for a Shetland pony’s wounds, with the pony suffering from severe neglect, maggot infestation, and injuries likely from a dog attack.
She received a ten-year ban from keeping animals, was ordered to pay fines and costs, and the ponies were taken into police and RSPCA care.
Her sentencing highlights the importance of animal welfare responsibilities.
