SEX OFFENDER RONALD ANDERSON FROM WINSFORD MAY FACE LIFE IMPRISONMENT
In January 2008, a man named Ronald Anderson, aged 48, who committed horrific sex acts on 13 children, faces the possibility of life in prison.Although he received a 10-year sentence, he was told that he might never be released.
Anderson admitted to 22 counts of sexual assault involving children, including two attempted rapes of a 10-year-old girl.
Det Sergeant Simon Newall, speaking after Anderson's sentencing at Chester Crown Court, emphasized the severity of the crimes.
He explained, “The 10 years is indeterminate, which is a new type of sentence and it means that it could end up meaning life.
The judge said he is a danger to society and he will not be released from prison until the parole board confirms he is no longer a threat.
Until that time, he will remain incarcerated.” Anderson was convicted of crimes committed at his home on Tatton Close over a two-year period.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was issued a sexual offences prevention order with several restrictions, including a ban on returning to Winsford if released.
Det Sergeant Newall, who led the investigation, stated, “He will never be allowed to return to Winsford, and this is to protect his victims from contact.
But if he is released, it is also for his own safety because this kind of behaviour elicits strong reactions.” Police awareness of the crimes began when a young girl reported to her parents that Anderson had taken a picture of her as she was getting out of a paddling pool at his residence.
Authorities seized a computer and camera containing indecent images.
Following this, other individuals came forward, sharing that their children had been victims.
Det Sergeant Newall added, “The case escalated quickly once we started investigating.
There were 13 victims.
We are now informing their families of the sentence he has received.”
