ROBIN WOMACK JAILED FOR SEX OFFENCES IN LOWESTOFT: SHOCKING CRIME AT LOCAL MOTORCYCLE SHOP
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Lowestoft, Robin Womack, a 48-year-old motorcycle shop owner, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offences involving a young girl.The conviction followed a detailed and lengthy trial at Ipswich Crown Court, which lasted for a week and brought to light disturbing allegations against Womack.
Womack, who was previously residing in Pakefield but has since moved to Carlton Colville, faced serious charges including four counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual assault.
Throughout the proceedings, he maintained his innocence, denying all allegations brought against him.
The jury, after careful deliberation, acquitted him of oral rape and two additional sexual assault charges.
The trial judge, Mr.
Justice John Devaux, also directed the jury to clear Womack of five other sex offences, citing insufficient evidence.
During the sentencing hearing on Friday, Judge Devaux acknowledged that Womack had no prior history of similar offences.
He also noted that Womack was regarded as a well-respected individual by many in the community, which added a complex layer to the case.
Despite this, the judge emphasized the severity of the crimes committed and the impact on the victim.
Womack’s arrest took place at his shop located on Beaconsfield Road in Lowestoft.
During the trial, he described his reaction to the police coming to his business and taking him into custody as being “horrified.” When questioned by his barrister, Andrew Thompson, about the allegations, Womack firmly stated that he had never sexually touched the girl involved.
He expressed feeling “ripped apart” by the accusations, which he claimed were false.
The court heard that the offences occurred over a span of five years, during which the girl was between the ages of eight or nine and 14.
She testified that Womack had been drinking lager, which he poured into a small glass for her to drink.
She further recounted that shortly after this incident, Womack told her she needed to go to bed and proceeded to play a pornographic film in her bedroom, actions that contributed to the serious charges against him.
The case has left a lasting impact on the community of Lowestoft, raising concerns about safety and trust within local businesses.
Womack’s conviction and subsequent sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and justice in protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation and abuse.
