SHOCKING SEXUAL ABUSE BY RITA AND ROBERT OLDHAM IN MANSFIELD AND NOTTINGHAM

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Mansfield and Nottingham, a married couple from Clipstone, located in Mansfield, is facing serious criminal charges related to the sexual abuse of young girls spanning over a decade. The couple, identified as Robert Oldham, aged 52, and Rita Oldham, aged 51, reside on Greendale Crescent in Clipstone. Their case is scheduled for sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, February 4th.

According to court records and police investigations, the Oldhams pleaded guilty in December 2012 to a series of heinous offences committed against three young girls under the age of 16. These crimes occurred over a lengthy period from 1993 to 2006, at various addresses within Nottingham and the surrounding Nottinghamshire area. The investigation revealed that one of the victims was as young as just three years old when she was first subjected to assault, highlighting the severity and brutality of the abuse.

To protect the identities and privacy of the victims, specific details surrounding the circumstances of the crimes cannot be disclosed publicly. However, the gravity of the offences has been acknowledged by law enforcement officials, with Detective Constable Louise Gowan, who has dedicated nine years to investigating child and sexual abuse cases, leading the inquiry. She described the offences as “the worst and most serious I have ever experienced,” emphasizing the profound impact on the victims’ lives.

DC Gowan further explained that her investigation confirmed a pattern of repeated offending, which occurred on a regular basis over many years. She expressed her concern about the lasting damage inflicted upon the victims, stating that the crimes have had a devastating effect on their well-being and future.

In court, Robert Oldham admitted to committing 16 separate offences, including rape and indecent assault. His wife, Rita Oldham, pleaded guilty to three charges: one of rape, one of indecent assault, and a third charge of wilfully neglecting and exposing a child to assault and ill-treatment by her husband. Both individuals denied any involvement in other similar offences that were not part of the current charges.

Detective Constable Gowan urged anyone with additional information or who may have been affected by this case to come forward. She emphasized the importance of community support and encouraged victims or witnesses to seek police assistance, ensuring that all relevant details are thoroughly investigated to bring justice to those harmed by the Oldhams’ actions.
