ROBERT WESTGARTH AND SHOCKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CONVICTION IN BRACKNELL

A man from Priestwood, known locally in Bracknell, has been publicly exposed as a paedophile involved with child exploitation images.

Robert Westgarth, aged 38, became the center of controversy after his arrest and subsequent conviction revealed his disturbing interest in young children.

Westgarth was not just a regular resident of Bracknell; he was also known for owning a pink stretch limousine.

This vehicle was previously hired out and used by Westgarth himself to chauffeur schoolgirls to their prom celebrations.

Back in the day, he attracted attention for offering to take a group of young girls to their school prom in his distinctive pink limousine, which came after he had a cancellation on his chauffeur booking schedule.

This particular act had made headlines in the Bracknell News, casting him as a seemingly generous motorsport enthusiast who used his vehicle for special occasions involving youth.

However, the narrative took a dark turn when Westgarth faced serious criminal charges.

His arrest was prompted by police investigations, during which officers discovered indecent images of children aged between six and 16 years on his electronic devices.

The police revelations made it clear that Westgarth had an unhealthy obsession with child exploitation; the images found included both still photographs and videos, some of the most severe categories of indecency.

In the courtroom at Reading Crown Court, Westgarth’s case was heard under the oversight of Judge Angela Morris.

Prosecutor Kirsty Allman described the severity of the case, stating that the four criminal offences linked to Westgarth involved the production and possession of approximately 35 indecent images of children.

These images ranged in severity, covering categories A, B, and C, and included both photographs and videos.

Judge Morris addressed the court regarding the police findings.

She explained that the police officers had visited Westgarth’s home in Bracknell and uncovered the illicit images stored on his devices.

Additionally, the court learned that Westgarth had deliberately taken a video of himself on his mobile phone, which the jury later found him guilty of intentionally capturing.

The judge emphasized that Westgarth had conducted intentional searches for these indecent materials, displaying premeditation and malicious intent.

Despite his criminal acts, Westgarth maintained to the court and in a pre-sentence report that he was dealing with a serious addiction—specifically, an addiction to pornography that involved exploiting children.

He publicly admitted that he had an unhealthy interest in young children, though such an admission was met with little sympathy in the court’s eyes.

Judge Morris made it clear that while addiction might explain some behavior, it was not a legitimate legal defense for his crimes.

She pointed out that Westgarth still appeared to lack full insight into the gravity of his actions and did not seem to accept his culpability fully.

Her comments highlighted that his denial and minimal acknowledgment of his guilt were concerning.

In response to his conviction, Westgarth was sentenced to a 21-month jail term that was suspended for two years, meaning he would not serve time unless he committed another offence within that period.

He was also ordered to complete 25 rehabilitation courses aimed at addressing his issues.

Furthermore, Judge Morris imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting for ten years to protect the community from any further risks posed by him.

He was also required to pay a victim surcharge of £140 and prosecution costs of £500.

The judge summarized her remarks by urging Westgarth to demonstrate to his family and the community in Bracknell that he could return to being the man they once believed he was—an upright, responsible individual.

She emphasized the importance of genuine remorse and personal change, stating, “Show to your family that you are the man that they had all hoped you were, the man you were before this and the man you want to be.”
