MAN JAILED AFTER RAPING TEENAGE GIRL
A man has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl in his vehicle, following an investigation carried out by the Child Abuse Investigation Team of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.Diwan Khan, aged 41 and formerly residing in Abbotsbury, Bracknell, Berkshire, was found guilty of the statutory crime in relation to an incident in the Fleet/Farnborough region in July 2024.
The conviction followed a trial held at Winchester Crown Court in February of the same year.
The court was informed that Khan was acquainted with one of the girl’s friends, and that the assault occurred after he had dropped off the girl’s companion at her home.
Evidence presented showed that Khan supplied the girl with vodka laced with MDMA, then assaulted her while she was unconscious, while also secretly recording himself committing the act.
The incident came to light after being reported to police by a third party on September 10.
When officers went to Khan’s residence on September 12, his mother, Naheed Ejaz, aged 61, initially refused to open the door for about two minutes.
Upon entering to make the arrest, body-worn camera footage captured a conversation between Khan and his mother in Urdu, in which they discussed concealing evidence.
This conversation was later translated, leading to Ejaz's arrest.
Searches failed to recover the phone in question, despite multiple attempts.
Khan was convicted of one count of rape; he had previously pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.
Ejaz was convicted of the same offense.
On Thursday, April 30, both individuals received their sentences at Winchester Crown Court.
Khan was sentenced to 12 years in prison, with a minimum of eight years before parole could be considered.
His sentence also includes a five-year extension on license after release, and he is subject to a 20-year sexual harm prevention order, an indefinite restraining order, and must register as a sex offender for life.
Additionally, Khan is permanently banned from working or volunteering with children.
