COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR MAN WHO STALKED EX-GIRLFRIEND
A man named Robert Ryan, aged 28, from Montrose, was convicted of stalking and harassment of his former girlfriend, Kylie Johnston, from Stonehaven.
The incident stemmed from their two-month relationship, which ended in 2013.
Ryan subjected Ms.
Johnston to a year of abuse, which included controlling behaviour, taking over her Facebook account, and sending messages to her family and friends.
He also falsely claimed that a woman had been raped, leading to a police investigation that discovered the report was unfounded.
During the court proceedings at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Ryan admitted to charges of stalking and wasting police time.
The court sentenced him to two years of supervision, imposed a community payback order, and ordered him to complete 240 hours of community service.
The sheriff described his conduct as 'vicious' and 'manipulative'.
