OXFORDSHIRE WASTE WORKER'S 'LUCKY' SEXUAL ASSAULT SENTENCE
A waste worker from Oxfordshire received a sentence described as 'lucky' by a judge when he was given a suspended prison term for sexual assault.
Robert Pollard, residing on Lancut Road in Witney, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Friday, July 17, to two years and nine months in prison, suspended for two years.
The 34-year-old was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman in Witney on November 21, 2021.
In his remarks, Judge Michael Roques stated that Pollard holds a “very unhealthy” view of women and that he was “fortunate” to avoid immediate imprisonment.
The incident involved Pollard entering the victim’s home after a party, assaulting her sexually, and trying to prevent her from leaving by locking the door.
The judge highlighted aggravating circumstances such as the location, alcohol consumption, and prior convictions for violence, including a 2009 battery against a female neighbor.
The sentence also included a nine-month electronically monitored curfew, a 120-day alcohol ban, community service days, a £500 fine for costs, and a ten-year restraining order.
