WITNEY PERVERT CAUGHT OUT BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTER GROUP
A west Oxfordshire pervert was caught by a paedophile hunter group after communicating with who he thought were two young girls.Kirk Mortimer, of Winfield Drive, Witney, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday, November 20.
The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and one count of attempting to meet a girl following grooming.
The court heard that Mortimer started communicating with two accounts online who he believed were girls aged 13 and 10.
The accounts were being run by the online vigilante group Cobra Hunters.
The court heard that the messages moved to Whatsapp and that those to who he believed was a 13-year-old girl were particularly sexual.
He said she was 'sexy' and said he wanted to put his 'c*** in her p****'.
Mortimer arranged to meet the '13-year-old' at Oxford's train station on August 2.
However, he was confronted by members of the vigilante group and it was livestreamed online.
The group also called the police and Mortimer was arrested.
The court heard he had nine convictions for 14 offences.
Peter Du Feu, mitigating, said: "He was livestreamed and arrested at the station.
He was in custody for six weeks which was traumatic." "He was bailed and was able to go back to his precious accommodation in Witney.
Real punishment has already been served.
From the first time I saw him, his condition has improved dramatically.
He has had drug cravings for the last few weeks, so he has been going back to Turning Point voluntarily." The barrister added: "The explanation lies in loneliness and in isolation.
He has a comfort in speaking to people who speak in a straightforward way.
This was wholly inappropriate, given an arrangement to meet.
He seems to have learnt his lesson after being embarrassed online.
He is most scared of losing his accommodation." Judge Emma Nott said: "You thought you were speaking to two girls, aged 10 and 13.
You spoke in a sexual way on Whatsapp to both of them.
You arranged to meet for oral sex.
Sadly for you, you discovered you had been caught out by a vigilante group who videoed you and called the police.
You do have clear special needs.
You don't have the same brain power as everyone else." The Judge handed Mortimer a two-year community order.
This involves completing rehabilitation activity requirements for up to 25 days.
The sentence also includes five years of notification requirements of being on the sex offenders' register and a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
