WITNEY MAN DANIEL MULLINS JAILED FOR ABUSIVE VIOLENCE TOWARDS PARTNER
A man from Witney has been found guilty and sentenced for acts of actual bodily harm as well as for engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour within a relationship.Daniel Mullins, aged 39 and residing at Beechgate, Witney, received a sentence of three years and four months in prison during a hearing at Oxford Crown Court on December 9.
The jury unanimously convicted Mullins on all three charges following a trial that concluded on December 3, 2021.
On October 19, 2019, police received reports that Mullins had repeatedly assaulted the female victim by kicking and punching her, and by forcefully throwing her against walls and furniture, resulting in extensive bruising that necessitated medical treatment.
On October 12, 2020, Mullins caused further harm by throwing the victim against a wall, which resulted in a head injury and required medical intervention.
Over the period from December 29, 2015, to August 13, 2020, Mullins regularly assaulted the victim, creating a climate of fear.
He was apprehended on August 13, 2020, and charged on November 11, 2020, with two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm and one count of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour.
PC Liam Dunkley of Witney police station, who led the investigation, thanked witnesses and the victim for their cooperation, stressing the importance of reporting domestic violence and urging victims to seek support.
