VICKY BUTLER FROM WITNEY SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN OXFORDSHIRE
Vicky Butler, a 32-year-old man originally from Little Hardings, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, has been handed down a severe prison sentence of 15 years following his conviction for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against three young children in Oxfordshire nearly ten years ago. The case was thoroughly examined and prosecuted at Oxford Crown Court, where the jury found Butler guilty of multiple counts of sexual abuse involving minors. These disturbing crimes included acts of sexual assault and penetration against young girls whose ages ranged from as young as five to thirteen at the time of the incidents. Initially, Butler denied all allegations, attempting to contest the charges. However, after a detailed trial, the jury unanimously convicted him of the offenses, bringing justice for the victims who endured unimaginable trauma.
During the sentencing hearing held on February 17, Judge Nigel Daly addressed the court, emphasizing the gravity of Butler’s actions. The judge pointed out that Butler exhibited a serious and troubling pattern of sexual behavior directed towards vulnerable young girls. He underscored that Butler exploited the victims’ innocence and trust, causing profound and lasting harm. The judge also highlighted the devastating impact these crimes had on the victims’ lives, describing the emotional scars as deep and enduring.
One of the victims provided a harrowing account, revealing that Butler had approached her from behind while she was dressed in her school uniform. She recounted how he repeatedly assaulted her, an experience that left her feeling distressed and traumatized. The court heard that these acts had a lasting effect on her well-being and sense of safety.
In addition to the lengthy prison term, Butler was sentenced to a one-year extension of his license, a measure intended to monitor his behavior after his release. Although the judge decided not to classify him as a 'dangerous' offender—citing the significant amount of time that had passed since the offenses and noting his apparent good conduct since then—he was nonetheless held fully accountable for his actions. Judge Daly described Butler’s crimes as 'despicable' and expressed that he had 'ruined their lives,' underscoring the severity of the case and the importance of justice for the victims.
