GRIMSBY MAN ROBERT ODLIN CAUGHT IN SHOCKING PAEDOPHILE PLOT NEAR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Grimsby, Robert Odlin, a 43-year-old resident of Cooper Road, was exposed for harboring disturbing fantasies and engaging in illicit online activities related to children.The investigation began in September of the previous year when Humberside Police acted on intelligence suggesting Odlin’s involvement in child exploitation.
Police officers executed a search warrant at Odlin’s residence while he was not present.
Upon entering his home, they seized a mobile phone for forensic analysis.
Following this, Odlin was contacted and summoned to Birchin Way police station for questioning.
Initially, he denied any incriminating content on his device, but he later requested a second interview, during which he made a series of deeply troubling admissions.
Claire Holmes, the prosecutor representing the Crown, outlined the details of Odlin’s confessions to Grimsby Crown Court.
She revealed that Odlin had engaged in online conversations with other individuals involved in paedophilia, seeking their assistance in kidnapping a young boy from the streets of Grimsby.
Holmes described the chat messages as “extremely concerning,” quoting Odlin’s own words: “I like boys between seven and 14.
I’ve never had one but would like to rape one.” Holmes further explained that Odlin had asked another person in the chat whether they would consider kidnapping a boy if they had help, adding, “Are you sure I can’t tempt you?” To which the other individual declined.
Odlin then expressed a desire to keep a child as a sex slave, stating, “I’d love to keep one as a sex slave.” During subsequent police interviews, Odlin admitted to having dark thoughts about abducting a boy on his way home from school, taking him away, and forcing him into sexual acts.
He disclosed that he lived in an area between a secondary school and a primary school, along a route frequently used by children, which he found concerning.
Odlin also claimed that he believed his phone contained “thousands” of indecent images of children.
However, forensic analysis revealed only two Category A images and three Category C images that were inaccessible.
Authorities did find 14 Category C images and one prohibited image of a child that could be accessed.
Odlin admitted to exchanging sexualized messages with a young boy in 2013, requesting explicit pictures and sending his own.
He stated that the communication stopped only because the boy was caught, but he confessed that he had attempted to meet the boy and would have gone through with the meeting if given the chance.
Odlin is scheduled to be sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court on Friday, February 26, as the case continues to unfold and authorities work to ensure justice is served for the potential victims and the community at large.
