GREENOCK CHARITY SUPPORT WORKER CHARGED WITH DOMESTIC ABUSE
A GREENOCK charity worker tasked with supporting former prisoners returning to the community has appeared in court charged with subjecting a woman to a five-year campaign of domestic abuse.Murdoch appeared in court in relation to a domestic abuse allegation concerning a period between April 1, 2019 and August 4, 2024.
During this time, it is alleged that he seized his partner or ex-partner by the neck and threw her body against a wall.
The charge further alleges that he attended a property and kicked a door, and that he repeatedly drove past the woman’s house.
Prosecutors claim he also shouted, swore, acted in an aggressive manner, and repeatedly uttered offensive remarks.
Murdoch is further alleged to have repeatedly made remarks about the woman’s financial situation, and to have repeatedly monitored her whereabouts.
It is claimed the alleged offences took place at several addresses in Greenock, as well as at Wemyss Bay Holiday Park.
Murdoch, of Pine Street, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and a trial was fixed for January 14, 2026.
He was granted bail on the condition that he does not enter a specified street in Greenock, or have contact with the woman named in the charge.
IFIT confirmed that Murdoch remains in his role as a support worker with the organisation.
