MAN JAILED FOR INTENTIONAL STRANGULATION AND ASSAULT
Robert McGuckin, aged 28, of Victoria Road, Great Yarnmoth, received a prison sentence of three years and one month at Oxford Crown Court today (17/6).He admitted guilt on the first day of the trial to two charges: intentional strangulation and assault causing actual bodily harm to another person.
The incident occurred on 7 December 2024, around 3am, on Union Street and later on Cross Street in Oxford.
McGuckin arranged to meet his former partner to return some of her property.
During this encounter, he carried out a violent assault, hitting her multiple times in the face and strangling her to the point she lost consciousness.
McGuckin was detained by police the same day and formally charged the subsequent day, 8 December 2024.
