GREENOCK MAN JAILED FOR HUMILIATING RAPE AND FAECES SMEARING
A sex attacker who sought to 'humiliate and degrade' a woman during a brutal rape incident in her Greenock home has received a seven-year prison sentence.Robert McGregor, from Port Glasgow, was convicted of raping the woman after a trial, despite denying the offence.
During the assault on August 22, 2020, he dragged the woman into her flat's living room, pushed and grabbed her before raping her.
He continued the assault by throwing her onto a couch, sexually assaulted her with a sex toy, and smeared faeces onto her face, ignoring her pleas to stop.
The judge highlighted that the attack was aimed at humiliating and degrading the victim and described it as a "horrific" crime.
Lord Young, who considered a victim impact statement, noted that the woman's life has been profoundly affected and traumatized.
The court was told that McGregor had a history of steady, well-paid employment but no prior sexual offences.
The assault was unplanned, and he was assessed as posing a medium risk of re-offending.
McGregor, aged 44, was placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely and prohibited from contacting the victim through a non-harassment order.
