MANIPULATIVE MAN WITH A SECOND SIDE JAILED FOR BREACHING SEXUAL PREVENTION ORDER BY HAVING REPEATED CONTACT WITH CHILDREN IN BOSTON AREA
A "manipulative" sex offender who broke the terms of his sentence by having repeated contact with children was today (Friday, February 20) jailed for four years.
Richard Tyrrell, 35, who was living in the Boston area, failed to disclose his previous convictions after befriending two families with young children.
Lincoln Crown Court heard Tyrrell was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order after he was jailed for 20 months in December 2021 for attempting sexual contact with a child.
The Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) prevented Tyrrell from having contact with children aged under-16 and ordered him to disclose his previous convictions, the court was told.
David Eager, prosecuting, said Tyrrell broke the terms of his SHPO by befriending two different families between March and December last year.
The court heard Tyrrell visited the home of a Market Rasen girl on four or five occasions and also told her that she did not need to wear make-up as she was beautiful.
Tyrrell also made frequent visits to a second family with two young children, Mr Eager explained.
During those visits Tyrrell accompanied the family on trips to The Deep aquarium in Hull, a fireworks night in Navenby and an overnight stay in Birmingham.
Mr Eager said during the visit to the Navenby fireworks display Tyrrell placed his hands over the ears of a young girl.
"These are persistent breaches involving two families," Mr Eager argued.
"We say he is a very serious risk." Tyrrell, of no fixed address, admitted two charges of breaching a sexual harm prevention order and failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register.
Passing sentence Judge Simon Hirst said: "This is a manipulative man who knows perfectly well he should not be involving himself with young families." Judge Hirst warned Tyrrell: "If you breach this order again you are going to spend increasing periods in custody."
