MAN JAILED AFTER ADMITTING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
A Boston man who inflicted repeated acts of domestic abuse on his partner was handed a prison sentence of two years and nine months on December 10.Marcis Lukasevics, aged 45, engaged in multiple assaults, including strangulation, and used a drone to observe the victim’s activities.
It was revealed during court proceedings at Lincoln Crown Court that the abuse started earlier this year in January, beginning with him choking her.
During this incident, he also poured beer over her and squirted cream into her nose.
The woman was hospitalized on March 7 after sustaining soft tissue injuries to her ribs.
The defendant also assaulted her with a wooden box and was seen kicking her in the face after knocking her to the ground.
Lukasevics admitted to controlling and coercive behavior between January 31 and June 19, along with a charge of non-fatal strangulation.
The court was told that he had a previous conviction for controlling and coercive conduct against another partner in 2024.
Defense lawyer Neil Sands stated that Lukasevics was aware of his impending imprisonment.
"Mr Lukasevics accepts it is not a question of if he is going to prison, but for how long," Sands said.
He added that mental health problems could partly explain Lukasevics’s conduct and that he would face deportation to Latvia after serving his sentence.
"That is not something he will be resisting," the lawyer remarked.
Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight emphasised the repeated violence, noting the victim had reported being strangled multiple times and losing consciousness at least once.
The court also observed that a drone was used to keep track of her.
A restraining order was issued, barring Lukasevics from any future contact with the victim or her family.
