RICHARD GREEN FROM EVESHAM AND PHILIPSCOTE SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY DISTRIBUTION IN WORCESTER

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local communities of Evesham and Philipscote, Richard Green, a 40-year-old resident of Philipscote, was found guilty of distributing indecent images of children via the internet. The conviction was handed down at Worcester Crown Court in April 2012, where Green faced a serious charge that has garnered significant attention.

Green's actions came to light after police investigations uncovered the disturbing material on a chat-line, which he had used to communicate with a man in Kent. The discovery was made approximately four years prior to his sentencing, leading to his arrest and subsequent trial.

During the court proceedings, Green was convicted after a trial, and the judge, Recorder David Mason QC, delivered the sentence. Green was ordered to serve a three-year community order, which includes mandatory attendance at a sexual offending group programme. Additionally, he was required to pay £500 in court costs and to sign the sex offender register for a period of five years.

In his sentencing remarks, Recorder Mason expressed some regret that Green did not admit to the offence earlier, noting that it would have been preferable for him to have taken responsibility voluntarily rather than being convicted by a jury. It was also noted that he is currently a full-time carer for a new partner, which adds a complex dimension to his case.
