Clive Harris, residing on Castle Street in Evesham, carried out a violent assault on his former wife in December of the previous year, during which he inflicted multiple stab wounds.

Harris appeared before Worcester Crown Court on Monday, April 13, where he entered a plea of guilty to charges of attempting to kill Linda Harris.

In an interview with the Evesham Journal, Mrs Harris's daughter expressed that her mother was extremely fortunate to survive after suffering numerous stab wounds to her chest, hands, and arms during the assault inside her home.

The incident was traced back to Harris following his ex-wife after they met earlier at the Ambassador Club that evening.

The attacker, who is 64 years old, followed his ex-wife back to her residence without her awareness, after which he gained entry, retrieved a knife from her kitchen, and launched his attack.

Mrs Harris, a grandmother of four, was discovered by her daughter covered in blood, having undergone eight hours of emergency surgery that included reconstructing her neck and reattaching her thumb.

During the assault, she managed to call her daughter, who was alerted to the situation and contacted the police.

Harris and Linda Harris had a 14-year relationship, during which he was abusive for many years.

The daughter recounted that after she had seen her mother out with friends and he encountered her at the club, she simply asked him to leave her alone and returned home.

Unbeknownst to her, Harris followed her, entered her apartment, and viciously attacked her with a ten-inch blade.

She was stabbed three times in the chest, with numerous defensive wounds also present.

Her left arm bears a 12-inch scar, and two of her fingers are largely paralyzed.

She recalls waking up to find herself with her throat slashed from front to back and her attacker bent over her.

Her survival is considered remarkable, especially considering her pleas for him to cease.

When police arrived, Harris was seen waiting at the top window of her residence, then descending casually, washing himself, and leaving with his coat.

Her daughter found her mother on the stairs, bloodied from head to toe, a sight that left a lasting impression.

Currently, Linda Harris remains in recovery, suffering from severe PTSD and undergoing psychiatric treatment due to the trauma and flashbacks, often seeing her attacker.

Her family describes her as changed, frightened, and jumpy, traumatized by the years of abuse and recent assault.

The guilty plea provides some relief, but her daughter emphasizes that her mother is very lucky to be alive.

She hopes her ex-husband receives a lengthy prison sentence, expressing a strong desire for him to serve time and never be free again, labeling him as an animal for the cruelty inflicted.
