RICHARD GAMBLE FROM BROMSGROVE JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST YOUNG GIRLS

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the Bromsgrove community, Richard John Gamble, a 70-year-old resident of Lime Grove, Sidemoor, was sentenced to prison for his involvement in a series of serious sexual offences committed against young girls over a span of two decades.

Gamble appeared before Hereford Crown Court yesterday, Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to five separate charges of sexual assault involving minors. His guilty plea came after a lengthy investigation by local authorities, which uncovered disturbing details about his interactions with vulnerable children.

The court heard that Gamble had established a deceptive relationship with the victims’ families, gaining their trust by befriending the parents and being entrusted with babysitting their children. The young girls, who knew him as 'Uncle John,' were lured into his home under the pretense of visiting his pet birds. During these visits, Gamble would give the children money for sweets and encourage them to return to his flat, where the abuse took place.

As a result of his actions, the victims endured a traumatic ordeal that has left lasting scars on their lives. The emotional and psychological impact on the girls and their families has been profound, with the families devastated by the betrayal of trust.

DC Liz Northcott, a representative from the Public Protection Unit at Bromsgrove Police Station, expressed her concern and hope for the victims’ recovery. She stated, “Gamble put these girls through a terrible ordeal, which has had a lasting effect on them, and on their families, who are devastated. The victims were faced with the further ordeal of having to give evidence at court, and it was only at the last minute that they were spared this when Gamble changed his plea to guilty. We hope the victims will now find some peace of mind and be able to move forward with their lives.”

Despite Gamble’s guilty plea, authorities believe that the full extent of his misconduct may not be entirely known. Given the lengthy period over which these offences occurred, there is a strong suspicion that other victims may still be unaware or have not yet come forward to report their experiences. The police continue to encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward to ensure that all victims receive justice.
