DOMESTIC ABUSER IN BROMSGROVE CONVICTED AND HANDED RESTRAINING ORDER
A man from Bromsgrove has received a community order along with a restraining order following his conviction at Worcester Crown Court.Daniel Hawkins, aged 36 and residing on Harbours Close, admitted to two counts of common assault, one count of malicious communications, and one count of criminal damage all related to domestic abuse on January 3.
He was sentenced to complete 100 hours of unpaid work, attend 30 sessions of rehabilitation activities, and was issued a five-year restraining order preventing him from contacting his victim.
Hawkins’ conviction resulted after a woman reported persistent domestic violence to West Mercia Police.
She detailed instances of being assaulted and threatened for several years.
She courageously came forward, describing being attacked and threatened with a bladed object, as well as being assaulted with boiling water.
Throughout the investigation, West Mercia Police provided the victim with support and guidance while preparing for prosecution.
Police Constable Ryan Clarke, the investigating officer, stated: “West Mercia Police takes all reports of domestic abuse seriously, we will always pro-actively tackle this type of behaviour and prosecute offenders who perpetrate this vile crime.
“Victims of domestic abuse will be supported by both officers at scene and our specialised protecting vulnerable people team in partnership with relevant charities throughout.
“This has been a lengthy investigation in which the victim has been incredibly brave in providing police with their evidence and continuing to support the prosecution for all this time.
“This conviction proves that domestic abuse can occur in any household at any time, police are always here to support victims of crime and I encourage people to contact 101 if they suffer from domestic abuse.”
