RECKLESS REYNALD ROACH FROM ANGLESEY CAUSES CHAOS AT GWYNEDD HOTEL
In August 2022, a disturbing incident unfolded at a Travelodge hotel located in Gwynedd, where a man identified as Reginald Roach, aged 63 and residing in Anglesey, caused significant concern among staff and guests alike.The incident took place on a Saturday afternoon, when Roach, who was placed at the hotel by a local council, entered a public area of the establishment in a state of undress, specifically naked from the waist down.
According to court proceedings, Roach approached hotel staff with an unusual request, asking them to place a bet on his behalf.
This bizarre behavior was part of a series of actions that led to his arrest and subsequent court appearance.
Defense solicitor Tudur Owen described Roach’s conduct as “bizarre,” emphasizing his unpredictable and unsettling behavior during the incident.
Roach, who has no fixed address, admitted to exposing himself in the hotel’s public space.
As a consequence, he was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended, meaning he would not serve time unless he committed another offense within the suspension period.
Additionally, Roach was ordered to pay £150 in compensation to a hotel worker who was left feeling deeply uncomfortable and disgusted by his actions.
The court also mandated that Roach register as a sex offender, reflecting the seriousness of his conduct.
Judge Gwyn Jones condemned the incident, highlighting that such bizarre and inappropriate behavior occurred within a family-friendly hotel environment that caters to a diverse range of visitors, including families with children.
Prosecutor James Neary pointed out that alcohol appeared to be a contributing factor in Roach’s behavior, noting that he had moved his hips in a manner that drew attention to his exposed area, further unsettling hotel staff and guests.
It is worth noting that this was not Roach’s first encounter with the law.
In 2020, he, then residing in Llanerchymedd, Anglesey, admitted to destroying a hospital’s Remembrance Sunday poppy display.
Just days after the Gwynedd incident, Roach’s troubled history continued when he left police with a £300 cleaning bill after defacing a cell in the custody suite at Caernarfon.
During that episode, he engaged in further disturbing behavior by pleasuring himself and defecating in a shower, adding to his record of disruptive and inappropriate conduct.
