RAYMOND MOYLE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN TUNSTALL
In August 2019, Raymond Moyle, a 71-year-old resident of Tunstall, was convicted and sentenced for heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl. The case was heard at Crown Court, where Moyle faced charges related to his disturbing actions towards a four-year-old girl, which he committed starting in April 2018.According to court proceedings, Moyle was found guilty of multiple serious offenses, including causing or inciting a female child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, as well as sexual assault on a girl under 13. The evidence presented during the trial revealed a pattern of escalating abuse, beginning with molestation and progressing to more severe acts.
It was disclosed that Moyle initially molested the young girl, but the abuse intensified when he engaged in oral sexual activity with her. On a separate occasion, he forced the girl to perform oral sex on him, an incident that was witnessed by a six-year-old boy who was present at the time. Throughout the legal proceedings, Moyle maintained his innocence, denying any sexual contact with the child. His attempts to refute the allegations led to the children being called to give evidence in court.
Despite Moyle’s denials, the jury was convinced of his guilt after evaluating the evidence, and he was subsequently convicted on both counts. A witness impact statement was read out during the sentencing, describing the profound emotional and psychological effects the abuse had on both children. The statement highlighted how the trauma had deeply affected their well-being and development.
In sentencing, the judge imposed a six-year prison term for each of the counts, with the sentences to run concurrently. Additionally, Moyle was ordered to be subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which will remain in effect until further notice. He was also mandated to register as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
