MAN ADMITS RAPE, STRANGULATION, STALKING AND OTHER OFFENCES
Jacob Leslie Simcock, aged 35 and from Tunstall in Stoke-on-Trent, appeared before Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday, 14 April, where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges including two counts of rape of a woman, two counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of threatening to share intimate images or videos of a person, one count of controlling or coercive behaviour, and one count of stalking involving a fear of violence.Last year, Simcock committed a rape and strangulation against one woman inside a residence.
He also raped her again in a separate incident before the offences came to light.
Following a discussion with the survivor, authorities learned that Simcock had also threatened to distribute explicit videos of her and attempted to prevent her from contacting others.
He threatened physical harm, saying he would ‘batter’ her and run her over.
Investigators later discovered that Simcock had recorded both rapes.
He was unaware that these recordings existed until they were uncovered during the investigation, at which point the survivor was informed.
In addition, Simcock had previously strangled, stalked, and threatened to share indecent images of another woman last year.
He tried to persuade her to falsely deny the incidents and attempted to contact her from blocked or withheld numbers when she was at a police station.
He also stated he was ‘not scared’ about petrol bombing her house.
Officers from the rape and serious sexual offences unit (RASSO) diligently supported both survivors and collected sufficient evidence to bring charges against Simcock.
Although he initially denied the offences during police interviews, he later pleaded guilty upon facing the evidence in court.
Simcock has been remanded into custody and is scheduled for sentencing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 9 July this year.
