BRIDLINGTON MAN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON YOUNG WOMAN AT HOLIDAY PARK
A man has been sentenced for sexually assaulting a sleeping young woman at a holiday park.
Raymond Hanks, aged 24, and the victim were colleagues at the park located on the North Yorkshire coast.
Following a trial at York Crown Court in June, he was found guilty of three counts of sexual touching on a female over 16.
On Thursday, Hanks received a 12-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years.
North Yorkshire Police investigator Insp Doug Stanway stated there were 'no winners' in this case as many young lives were impacted.
He explained that the victim, who was drawn to work at the holiday park at the start of her adulthood to seek a better future on the east coast, saw her dreams shattered approximately six weeks later when she was violated by Hanks.
The victim subsequently left her job and returned home.
Insp Stanway expressed hope that she can begin to rebuild her life.
Hanks, from Bridlington, was also subjected to a 10-year restraining order against the victim and was registered on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
He was acquitted of two additional charges of attempted rape and rape—one against the same woman and another involving a different woman who reported being raped while asleep in staff accommodation.
