RAYMOND CONEY SENTENCED IN FALKIRK FOR CHILD INDECENCY OFFENCES
Police Scotland has publicly acknowledged and expressed their support for the recent sentencing of Raymond Coney, a 68-year-old man from Falkirk, who was found guilty of serious offences involving indecent images and videos of children. On Thursday, 18 November, 2021, Coney appeared before Falkirk Sheriff Court to face the charges. After a thorough legal process, he was sentenced to serve seven months in prison for his crimes. The court proceedings highlighted the severity of his actions and the impact they have on the victims involved.
Detective Inspector Adrian Ure, a senior officer with Police Scotland’s National Child Abuse Investigation Unit, issued a statement condemning Coney’s conduct. He described Coney’s behavior as “appalling,” emphasizing that it demonstrated a complete and utter disregard for the young victims depicted in the images he was viewing. Inspector Ure pointed out that Coney’s actions were driven by a misguided belief that the anonymity provided by the internet would shield him from detection and consequences.
However, thanks to the diligent efforts of law enforcement, Coney’s false sense of security was shattered. The investigation led to his arrest and subsequent conviction, ensuring that he will now face the legal repercussions of his misconduct.
Inspector Ure reaffirmed Police Scotland’s stance on child sexual abuse, stating that any form of such criminal activity is taken very seriously and remains a top priority for the force. He urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any concerns regarding children at risk of abuse or potential victims. The police are committed to protecting vulnerable children and ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their actions.
