RAMUNAS LETUKAS FROM PETERHEAD FACES COURT OVER THREATS AND ABUSE IN FRASERBURGH

A man identified as Ramunas Letukas, originally from Fraserburgh, has been subjected to a financial penalty after engaging in threatening and abusive conduct towards his former partner. The incident, which spanned over a period of six months during the previous year, culminated in Letukas appearing before Peterhead Sheriff Court to answer charges related to his behavior.

According to court records, Letukas, aged 41, repeatedly contacted his ex-partner, inquiring about her whereabouts and the individuals she was associating with. His persistent attempts to reach her included visiting her residence in Peterhead three times within a single day, demonstrating a pattern of obsessive and invasive behavior. The woman, who had been in a relationship with Letukas for nearly two decades before their separation in January, recounted the distress caused by his actions.

She described how, following their breakup, she was denied access to retrieve her belongings from the family home. During this period, Letukas’s conduct escalated to shouting matches over the phone, during which he hurled derogatory names at her. Her legal representative revealed that Letukas admitted his conduct was unacceptable, attributing his actions to suspicions that she was unfaithful. The court was also informed that in April, after the woman underwent a medical procedure and rejected his attempts to care for her, Letukas issued serious threats. Specifically, he warned that he would run her over with his vehicle if he saw her crossing the street.

Police authorities later confiscated a mobile phone from Letukas, which contained evidence of his harassment and threatening behavior. Despite his guilty plea to the charges, the court imposed a fine of £790 on him. However, it was decided that no non-harassment order would be issued, as the victim did not support such an order. The court underscored the importance of addressing domestic abuse seriously, emphasizing that such conduct is taken very seriously by the judicial system.
