LOWESTOFT PERVERTS RACHEL BURROWS AND KEVIN PREWITT SENTENCED TO 22 YEARS FOR ABHORRENT CHILD ABUSE
In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Lowestoft, two individuals have been sentenced to a combined total of 22 years in prison for their involvement in a series of heinous crimes against young children.Rachel Burrows, aged 30, and Kevin Prewitt, aged 37, were found guilty of subjecting two innocent children, both under the age of 10, to a prolonged and disturbing campaign of abuse that has been described by authorities as both inhuman and sadistic.
The case came to light in April 2020 when police officers responded to a distressing discovery at Prewitt’s residence on Myrtle Road in Lowestoft.
During the investigation, authorities uncovered a short, 10-second indecent film along with explicit messages stored on Prewitt’s mobile phone.
These findings prompted a deeper probe into the pair’s activities, revealing a disturbing pattern of exploitation.
Prewitt, who was living in Lowestoft, was subsequently charged and convicted of multiple serious offences, including the rape of children under the age of 10.
His actions were part of a broader pattern of sexual misconduct, which included the creation and distribution of indecent images of children.
The police seized various electronic devices, including mobile phones and tablets, from both Prewitt and Burrows, which contained evidence of their abuse.
Further investigation uncovered a Skype conversation between the two offenders dating from January 2020 until the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
During this exchange, they discussed their plans and activities related to the abuse of the children.
The examination of videos recovered from their devices revealed the victims sobbing and whimpering, highlighting the cruelty inflicted upon them.
A psychological assessment indicated that both children are likely to develop complex post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the trauma they endured.
Rachel Burrows, also from Lowestoft and residing on Harris Avenue, was similarly convicted of multiple serious charges.
She admitted to offences including the sexual abuse and rape of children under 10, as well as taking indecent images of minors and inciting or causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
Her actions, like Prewitt’s, were part of a disturbing pattern of exploitation and abuse.
During sentencing, Judge Rupert Overbury condemned the actions of both offenders, describing their conduct as “beyond depraved and despicable.” He emphasized the inhumanity and sadism involved in their crimes, stating, “If your families have any sense, they will disown you both because neither of you deserve a place in society until you have paid a high price for your actions.” The judge’s words underscored the severity of the crimes and the profound impact on the victims, as well as the community of Lowestoft that has been deeply affected by this case.
