GRIMSBY MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENCE AND COERCIVE CONTROL OVER GIRLFRIEND

A man named Quinn Isherwood from Grimsby has been involved in a series of violent and controlling behaviors against his girlfriend over an 18-month relationship.

The court heard that Isherwood kicked, punched, headbutted, and slapped the woman, and repeatedly bent back her thumb during multiple incidents.

His aggression often escalated when he lost his temper after becoming frustrated, leading to physical assaults.

Isherwood admitted to using controlling and coercive behavior, as well as assaulting the woman, causing actual bodily harm, and also assaulted a police officer while in police custody.

Julia Baggs, the prosecutor, described how the woman was scared and felt degraded and worthless due to his actions.

He also took her phone, called her unpleasant names, strangled her, and caused cracks in her teeth.

The police were alerted after he punched her several times, headbutted her, and followed her in her car to attack her again.

The woman expressed her distress, saying, 'He has caused me and my family so much distress in such a short time.

I hope I can just move on from all of this and have a happy life.' Isherwood, who has a prior record of 14 offenses including criminal damage and drug-related crimes, was jailed for three and a half years and received a five-year restraining order.

Judge Mark Bury highlighted the persistent and damaging nature of his abusive behavior, which had a severe impact on the victim's mental health.
