PERVERT SHARED CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGES FROM 5,000 STASH
Phillip Wright, a resident of Runcorn, shared some of his disturbing collection with other online users who are interested in similar illicit material. At Chester Crown Court, the 33-year-old was sentenced after previously admitting guilt at an earlier hearing.
He pleaded guilty to charges including possessing indecent images of children, producing three such images, and distributing them.
In addition, he was convicted of possessing prohibited imagery of children and extreme pornography involving animals.
Prosecutor Catherine Elvin explained that Wright was found to have a total of 5,195 images depicting child sexual abuse, acquired between May 2025 and October 31 last year in Runcorn.
Of these, nearly 3,000, specifically 2,971 images, were classified as Category A, which includes the most severe offences such as child rape.
Other images fell into categories B and C.
Police investigation results showed that Wright also distributed some of these images online to other offenders.
Officers who searched his devices discovered 12 videos deemed illegal, featuring child abuse through animated or drawn images rather than photographs.
The devices also contained six extremely graphic images involving sexual acts between humans and animals, considered offensive or obscene.
Judge Patrick Thompson determined that the nature of the crimes warranted an immediate custodial sentence and sentenced Wright, of Grangemoor, Runcorn, to two years and eight months in prison.
He was instructed to register as a sex offender for life, follow an ongoing sexual harm prevention order, and his electronic devices were confiscated to prevent further distribution of illegal content.
