HOUSE BOARDED UP AFTER WOMAN ATTACKED AND STRANGLED BY THUG
Joseph Helps, a 48-year-old man from Main Street, Halton Village, Runcorn, has been sentenced to a year in prison after assaulting a woman, which included strangulation.
Following an incident on Main Street on Saturday, Helps was detained by authorities.
He pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm through assault and was subsequently sentenced to 12 months at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court in Warrington earlier this week.
The court's reasoning described the assault as “so serious” that only imprisonment was justified, citing his repeated history of domestic abuse, the involvement of strangulation, and his ongoing breach of a previous community order.
A restraining order was also issued for three years, prohibiting him from contacting the victim and visiting two particular addresses.
He was also ordered to pay £156 in damages.
