CWMBRAN MAN DISTRIBUTED INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A Cwmbran man has been found to have committed three acts of distributing indecent images of children following a distressing case involving a local family.Phillip Woodcock, 41, of St Dials, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court, where it was confirmed that he had committed all three acts of distributing indecent or pseudo-photographic images of children, contrary to sections 1(1)(b) and 6 of the Protection of Children Act 1978.
After the trail, the mother of the victim told the Argus how the ordeal began several years ago after what she described as a long-running pattern of harassment, including repeated vandalism and disturbing behaviour near her home.
“At first, we didn’t know who it was,” she said.
“There was poo thrown at our house, on the door, on my partner’s car, and even in the garden.
It kept happening, and we just couldn’t figure out who was doing it.” After repeated incidents, the family decided to install cameras outside their home.
“We put the cameras up to try and catch whoever was behind it,” she explained.
“Then one day my partner came home from work with an envelope that had been stuck to our fence.
It was addressed to my little boy, who was only three at the time.
When he opened it, his face just dropped, it was full of pornographic pictures of children.
We were horrified.” She described the pictures as “horrible, terrifying and sick, pictures of children in such disgusting situations”.
She said the police were called, and digital evidence was seized from a laptop during the investigation.
The mum says the incident has deeply affected her family: “We’ve had years of anxiety and sleepless nights.
It’s been horrible, something no family should ever have to go through.” The court hearing on Friday, October 3, rule that Woodcock had carried out three acts of distributing indecent images of children.
He is to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and will return to court on October 31 when it will be decided what action the courts will take against him.
