WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER FROM ROCHESTER JAILED FOR VILE CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A wedding photographer from Rochester, Phil Davidson, has been sentenced to 16 months in jail after being found possessing a large collection of extremely graphic indecent images and videos of children and animals.Court reports detail that Davidson downloaded vile footage of young children suffering severe sexual abuse and engaging in sex acts with animals, using search terms like 'baby rape' and 'kiddy rape' to find such material.
He accumulated 527 movies, some featuring children as young as 18 months and involving bondage, extreme violence, and bestiality.
Maidstone Crown Court was told that the most serious clips would require three and a half days to view in full.
Davidson, aged 39, who lives in Keating Close, Rochester, claimed that viewing this material provided relief from depression by witnessing ‘worse pain’ inflicted in the images.
The judge, Adele Williams, emphasized the severity of the crimes, noting that the offences were extremely serious due to the number and extreme nature of the images and videos.
She condemned Davidson’s search terms, highlighting that some of the material involved infants.
Although Davidson initially denied responsibility when police raided his home last December, investigators found the sordid material on his laptops.
Prosecutor Ben Irwin described it as depicting the sexual abuse of very young children and involving bestiality with a dog.
Davidson was convicted and will be listed on the sex offenders’ register for ten years, with a sexual harm prevention order imposed for the same duration.
He is also barred indefinitely from working with children or vulnerable adults.
The case was met with condemnation from the NSPCC, which stated that there are no excuses for viewing such footage, as it fuels the vile trade of child abuse images.
Davidson’s wife and children were present during his arrest, and he now reportedly feels great shame and remorse.
His defense argued that he has become a ‘broken man,’ having lost his job, marriage, and reputation.
The overall judgment underscores the brutal and disturbing nature of his offenses, reinforcing the message that such abhorrent behaviors are intolerable and punishable by law.
