NORTH LONDON MAN SENTENCED TO 21 YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
59-year-old Peter Marrington of Woolmer Road, North London, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison after being convicted of historic child sexual abuse spanning from the 1980s to the early 2000s.The trial, which took place on August 19th at Chelmsford Crown Court, found him guilty of three counts of child rape and four counts of indecent assault.
Marrington was initially investigated and arrested in 2016 following a report received by Essex Police detailing his involvement in child sexual abuse from the 1980s through the early 2000s.
During the court proceedings, he denied the allegations.
The victims, three women who came forward accusing him of sexual abuse, including rape, when they were young girls—the youngest being just six at the time—had to wait eight years for justice to be served.
The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order on Marrington.
PC Christopher Longhurst, who investigated the case, stated: “It takes a strong person to wait eight years for their perpetrator to be found guilty of the horrendous crimes he’d put them through.
Each of these victims have been patient throughout the delays in court and I’d like to commend them for their patience and strength.
Their bravery has meant that this dangerous man is unable to harm anyone else.”
