MP DAN NORRIS ON POLICE BAIL AFTER SERIOUS CHILD SEX OFFENCES ARREST
An MP arrested on suspicion of rape, child sex offences and child abduction has refused to step down, despite calls for his resignation.Dan Norris, MP for North East Somerset and Hanham, was suspended from the Labour Party in April and has not attended Parliament since his release on police bail nine months ago.
A petition calling for Mr Norris to stand down has garnered 2,100 signatures.
It states: "These allegations severely undermine his ability to effectively represent us in Parliament." He added that he continues "to represent" his constituents and is "handling casework and policy queries and asking parliamentary questions." Avon and Somerset Police confirmed its investigation is ongoing, with the MP remaining on conditional bail.
—————————————————————————————————— A disgraced MP is facing a fresh storm of allegations after being arrested for a second time over a catalogue of alleged sex crimes.
Dan Norris, 66, now sitting as an independent MP, is under investigation over claims he raped two women, sexually assaulted another, and carried out voyeurism and upskirting offences involving multiple victims.
The ex-Labour heavyweight was first nicked in April 2025, when police arrested him over allegations including rape, child abduction and sexual offences involving a girl.
Detectives later dropped the child-related allegations, but the investigation into serious sexual crimes has intensified, leading to his latest arrest.
Cops say the alleged offences span two decades, stretching from the early 2000s right through to the 2020s.
Norris is also being probed for misconduct in a public office.
Despite the mounting allegations, Norris remains on conditional bail.
The veteran politician was only elected to Parliament in July 2024, when he sensationally ousted Conservative big name Jacob Rees-Mogg.
Labour moved swiftly to suspend him once news of his arrest broke.
Now shunned by his former party, Norris sits as an independent — but has not set foot in the House of Commons since his arrest.
He can still cast votes remotely by proxy.
At the time of his first arrest, Norris was also serving as West of England Mayor, a role he quietly vacated when his term ended in May 2025.
Police have confirmed their investigation began in December 2024 — and it is ongoing.
