GLENN CALDERWOOD'S BRUTAL ATTACK ON DOG IN NORTH-WEST LONDON SHOCKS COMMUNITY

In a disturbing incident that has shocked residents of North-West London, particularly those living in Brent, Glenn Calderwood, a man residing on Woodheyes Road in Harlesden, was found guilty of a heinous act of animal cruelty.

The incident occurred on the 20th of January, 2020, and involved Calderwood viciously assaulting a defenseless French bulldog named Toffee in his own home.

According to court reports, Calderwood, born on July 28, 1963, and known to have a history of violent and dishonest behavior, physically attacked Toffee by delivering three forceful punches to the dog’s head.

Following this, he proceeded to forcibly submerge the animal into a hot tub located at his residence.

Witnesses and neighbors heard the distressing yelps and cries of the dog during the attack, which lasted several seconds and caused significant suffering.

Prosecutor Stuart Bell described the scene in detail, stating that a neighbor, alarmed by the loud yelping, looked out of their window and saw Calderwood holding Toffee by the scruff of his neck, lifting him approximately five feet above the ground.

Bell further explained that Calderwood used both hands to push the dog underwater in an apparent attempt to drown him.

The neighbor, witnessing the distress, shouted “oi,” prompting Calderwood to release Toffee, who was left wet with redness visible in his eye.

The neighbor’s account confirmed that the attack was deliberate and intended to inflict pain and suffering on the helpless animal.

During the court proceedings, Calderwood, who appeared wearing a grey suit and sported a ponytail, admitted that his behavior was “somewhat erratic.” He also expressed anxiety about the case, shouting from the dock, “I’ve have been anxious about this for over a year.

Do I have to suffer any longer?” Magistrate Michael Herlihy condemned Calderwood’s actions, emphasizing the severity of the attack.

He stated, “The attack was several blows to the dog and he tried to drown the dog in a hot tub.

These were deliberate acts which would have caused significant distress to the dog and its owner.” The magistrate also noted Calderwood’s medical condition but decided to suspend the prison sentence, considering his past convictions, which include causing disturbances on NHS premises, common assault, assaulting a police officer, and theft from his workplace.

As a result, Calderwood was sentenced to a 20-week prison term, suspended for 18 months.

Additionally, he was ordered to pay compensation to Toffee’s owner.

The case has sparked outrage among animal welfare advocates and local residents, highlighting the importance of holding individuals accountable for cruelty towards animals in the North-West London community.
