TAMWORTH TEACHER BANNED FOR EXPLICIT SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
A teaching professional has been permanently barred from the occupation after he shared explicit videos and images of himself on social media.Peter Hoare, 34 years old, was employed at Three Peaks Primary Academy in Tamworth, Staffordshire, from 2012 until he resigned in June 2022.
An official conduct panel found that Hoare’s Twitter account had published explicit photos showing his genitals as well as videos related to sexual activity.
These posts came to light following a parent's report after Hoare had already left his teaching role.
The account, which was active from August 2018 until March 2023, did not feature images involving minors, but Hoare was clearly identifiable from the content shared.
He admitted owning and posting on the profile, including a video filmed in a public space.
Hoare explained that he set up the account for personal reasons in 2018 and started sharing visual content of himself from 2020.
The panel’s report highlighted that he expressed dissatisfaction with various aspects of his personal life, which was reflected in his online activity.
He also mentioned using 'poppers,' a legal substance, in his comments.
Although there was no link detected between the social media account and his teaching role, the posts made in public space made his identity clear.
The panel pointed out that such explicit content, posted while employed as a teacher, was unacceptable due to the potential impact on the profession’s reputation.
The panel concluded that any repeated posting of similar material by teachers could be deemed inappropriate conduct, risking harm to the role’s integrity.
As a result, Hoare is now banned indefinitely from working in any educational, youth, or children’s care facilities in England, with no chance for legal appeal because of the seriousness of the misconduct.
