MURDERER AND ONLINE GROOMER PETER CHAPMAN SENTENCED TO LIFE

Twisted Facebook killer Peter Chapman was ‘like an addict’ who used social media to get his ‘next big buzz’ to hurt women.

In 2017, Chapman was jailed for 45 years for the kidnap, rape, and murder of 17-year-old Ashleigh Hall after grooming her on Facebook.

He had previously been imprisoned at age 19 for engaging in two rapes.

Throughout his life, he has been implicated in numerous attacks on women, with his criminal record beginning in his teens.

In 2010, he was sentenced to at least 35 years for the kidnapping, rape, and murder of Ashleigh Hall, whom he lured by creating a false online identity.

Despite being on the sex offender register following earlier convictions, he exploited online platforms to groom and target young girls, including Ashleigh.

Chapman used two mobile phones and fake personas such as Peter Cartwright or DJ Pete to deceive his victims, who ranged in age from 13 to 31.

For the murder, he posed as a 19-year-old and told Ashleigh’s mother he would be picking her up pretending to be her father.

He then abducted Ashleigh, wrapped duct tape around her, assaulted and raped her, and then suffocated her.

He dumped her body in a ditch, and was arrested after police stopped him for driving without insurance, during which he confessed to killing her.

An independent inquiry revealed police missed 11 opportunities to arrest him before the murder, despite clear sightings of his vehicle through ANPR cameras.

Chapman has a long history of sexual offenses dating back to his teens, including accusations of sexual assault and rape, though many cases were dropped.

After relocating to Merseyside and experiencing rejection by a partner, his hatred towards women intensified.

He continued to evade capture until his eventual arrest in October 2009, for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment for Ashleigh’s murder.

While in prison, he expressed remorse and wrote letters lamenting his life, claiming he wished he could be sent to Afghanistan to blow up bombs and suggesting he should have joined the army.

Ashleigh’s mother, Andrea Hall, expressed her anger over police failures and called for accountability, stating, ‘If they had done their job and arrested him, he would never have been able to murder Ashleigh.

They say lessons have been learned.

The only lesson I’ve learned is I’ve got to live without my daughter.’
