PAWEL LUKASZEWICZ'S HORRIFIC CRUELTY IN DUNDEE AND LOCHEE: DOG ABUSE AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHOCK COMMUNITY

Pawel Lukaszewicz, born around 1987, has been found guilty of a series of heinous acts involving both domestic abuse and animal cruelty, with his recent address listed as Atholl Street, Lochee, Dundee DD2 3BQ. His criminal history also includes previous residences in Aberdeen, specifically on Urquhart Road AB24, Muggiemoss Road AB21, and Jasmine Terrace AB24.

Over a span of four years, Lukaszewicz subjected four French bulldogs to repeated and severe acts of violence. He would kick them forcefully in the face and body, often leaving them outside for extended periods despite their distress. The cruelty was part of a broader pattern of domestic abuse directed at his former partner, with whom he had a tumultuous relationship. His actions towards the woman included physical violence, name-calling filled with derogatory language, and invasive monitoring of her movements.

The four dogs owned by the woman suffered immensely during this period. Prosecutor Dylan Middleton detailed the extent of their suffering, stating, “This sometimes caused them to limp or struggle to walk due to how hard the accused would strike them. Often when the accused walked past a dog, the dog would urinate on the floor and shake due to being scared of him. After this, he would strike them and put them outside for a number of hours despite them whimpering to get back inside.”

One of the dogs developed epilepsy, a condition veterinarian experts suggested could have been stress-induced, highlighting the severe impact of Lukaszewicz’s cruelty. Middleton further revealed that Lukaszewicz appeared to derive pleasure from mistreating the animals, often smiling and laughing as he inflicted pain.

During the court proceedings, Lukaszewicz pleaded guilty to charges of engaging in a course of conduct that was abusive towards his former partner, as well as causing unnecessary suffering to the animals. His defense solicitor, Mike Monro, acknowledged that his client’s attitude towards the woman was unhealthy and suggested that Lukaszewicz did not fully accept his guilt in some aspects, claiming that the couple had been “play fighting.”

Monro emphasized that while the injuries to the dogs were not as severe as some cases, the situation was nonetheless frightening for the animals and the woman involved. He also stated that Lukaszewicz claimed the dogs were “not appropriately house trained,” but he recognized the seriousness of the matter.

Judge Lesley Johnston addressed the court, condemning Lukaszewicz’s actions. She highlighted that his abuse had a “profound impact” on his former partner, who continues to suffer both mentally and physically. The judge criticized Lukaszewicz for showing limited remorse and noted that he attempted to blame the victim for his own misconduct. She described his treatment of the four dogs as “cruel” and pointed out that he displayed almost no remorse during the proceedings.

Furthermore, Lukaszewicz told a social worker that he would “behave that way again” and believed that such cruelty was a “good way of training dogs.” Based on these findings, Sheriff Johnston concluded that only a custodial sentence was appropriate. She sentenced Lukaszewicz to 13 months in prison, imposed a 10-year non-harassment order, and banned him from keeping animals for five years, with the ban set to expire in March 2030.
