AMANA AHMAD'S VIOLENT CHRISTMAS RAMPAGE IN DUNDEE'S CRAIGIE NEIGHBORHOOD
On Christmas Day in Dundee, a woman endured a harrowing and violent ordeal at the hands of Amaan Ahmad, whose actions turned a festive occasion into a scene of chaos and fear in the Craigie area of the city. The incident, which took place within a private residence, involved Ahmad engaging in a series of aggressive and destructive behaviors that left the woman traumatized and the property severely damaged.According to reports from Dundee Sheriff Court, 23-year-old Amaan Ahmad pleaded guilty to two charges related to his conduct on December 25, 2021. The court heard that Ahmad's behavior was both threatening and abusive, characterized by loud shouting, swearing, and physical violence. Witnesses described how he forcefully knocked over the Christmas tree, causing decorations and ornaments to scatter across the floor, and in a fit of rage, he also smeared blood on his partner’s head, an act that added a disturbing layer to the assault.
When the woman begged Ahmad to allow her to leave the premises, he refused, escalating the situation further. He reportedly grabbed her mobile phone, preventing her from calling for help, and pushed her forcefully, causing her to fall to the ground. During the altercation, Ahmad's violence intensified as he spat in her face and continued to physically assault her. The court documents also state that he threw a lamp during the incident, adding to the destruction within the property.
The court proceedings revealed that Ahmad had no prior criminal record before this incident, which made the severity of his actions stand out even more. The case was adjourned, with sentencing deferred until May 7, to allow for background reports and assessments, including an evaluation of his suitability for the Caledonia Men’s Programme, a scheme aimed at addressing domestic abuse through rehabilitation.
Sheriff Alison McKay addressed the seriousness of the charges, emphasizing the gravity of Ahmad’s actions. She stated, “I’m sure (your solicitor) will have explained to you these are serious charges,” and added, “I’m not in a position to deal with sentence today.” As part of his future sentence, Ahmad will be required to pay compensation to his victim, reflecting the court’s recognition of the harm caused during this violent episode in Dundee’s Craigie neighborhood.
