PAUL WILLETTS FROM BURTON SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND SEXUAL ASSAULT AT STAFFORD CROWN COURT
In a case that has shocked the community of Burton, Paul Willetts, a 46-year-old office manager, has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of a series of heinous sexual offences and the production of thousands of indecent images and videos involving children.Willetts, whose residence is on Station Street in Burton, was arrested in October 2018 by the local child protection and exploitation team.
The authorities acted swiftly after mounting evidence of his involvement in the creation and distribution of illegal material.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized multiple electronic devices, including a mobile phone, two computer hard drives, three external hard drives, and a USB stick, all of which were subjected to detailed forensic analysis.
The investigation uncovered a disturbing collection of content, with over 6,000 indecent images and videos linked to Willetts.
Among these, more than 200 were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of abuse and exploitation.
The court heard that Willetts had also engaged in sexual assault against a woman, adding a further layer of criminality to his case.
Details of the charges reveal that Willetts pleaded guilty to a total of 11 offences in February at Stafford Crown Court.
These included two counts of taking indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child, three counts of making indecent photographs of a child, three counts of voyeurism, and possession of extreme pornographic images that did not involve children.
Additionally, he admitted to sexually assaulting a woman.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that officers had discovered a covert recording device during their search, indicating Willetts’s intent to secretly record or capture illicit material.
His actions have been deemed highly serious, leading to a substantial custodial sentence.
On Monday, June 15, Willetts was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
Furthermore, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order has been imposed on him for a period of ten years, restricting his activities and contact.
He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety measures.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable individuals from sexual abuse.
