A BURY RADIO DJ HAS STARTED A LIFE SENTENCE FOR THE MURDER OF HIS BOLTON GIRLFRIEND.
A BURY radio DJ has started a life sentence for the murder of his Bolton girlfriend.
Paul Sharpe admitted strangling 28-year-old mum Sarah Jane Widdup at her Breightmet home.
The court heard that Sharpe throttled Sarah on October 14, 2000, after their difficult relationship had ended.
Sarah's body was discovered last October in her Deepdale Road home by her father, Mr.
Riley Widdup.
Sarah was studying holistic therapy at Bolton College.
Sharpe, of Wellington Road, Bury, was convicted and received a life sentence with a recommendation for the minimum term to be served in prison.
During police interviews, he said he could not remember what made him flip because he had blanked it out and attempted to take his own life after fleeing the scene.
