PAUL ROSE LEEK PERVERT SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES ON SCHOOLGIRLS IN STOKE-ON-TRENT

In August 2017, the town of Leek was shaken by the sentencing of Paul Rose, a 79-year-old man, who was found guilty of committing serious sexual offenses against two young schoolgirls. According to court reports, Rose, residing on Westwood Park Drive in Leek, engaged in inappropriate and criminal behavior towards the two girls, who were minors at the time of the offenses. The first victim was subjected to physical contact where Rose rubbed himself against her, an act that caused her significant distress. The second girl was also victimized through inappropriate touching and was coerced into touching him, further compounding the severity of his misconduct. Prosecutor Paul Spratt detailed the nature of Rose’s offenses, emphasizing that he had rubbed himself against the first victim and kissed her on the mouth, while also indecently touching the second girl. The second victim believed that Rose was asking her to have sex, a distressing thought that underscores the severity of his actions. Once the victims reached adulthood, one of them confronted Rose directly, recording his responses, which included some admissions of guilt.

One of the victims delivered a heartfelt statement to the court, expressing feelings of insecurity and worthlessness as a direct result of Rose’s abuse. The impact of his actions has been profound and long-lasting, affecting her mental health and sense of safety.

Rose, who had no prior criminal record, pleaded guilty to six counts of indecent assault and three counts of indecency with a child. Despite the seriousness of the charges, Judge Paul Glenn acknowledged Rose’s age and medical condition, which influenced the sentencing decision. The judge stated that the gravity of the offenses warranted immediate custody but reduced the sentence significantly due to these mitigating factors.

In his sentencing remarks, Judge Glenn made it clear that he believed Rose was sexually attracted to the children, rejecting any suggestion to the contrary. Rose was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
