LEEK MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING WOMAN AT KEELE GOLF CLUB
A man named Craig Loveridge has been sentenced to a 45-month prison term after being found guilty of raping a woman at Keele Golf Club near Newcastle.According to court proceedings, Loveridge met the woman on November 29, 2018, at the golf course, and during their encounter, he made multiple attempts to kiss her against her wishes.
He touched her breasts and ultimately committed rape.
The victim took swift action to report the assault and confided in her mother later that evening.
Evidence such as DNA recovered from her underwear confirmed that the assault occurred.
The woman revealed that the incident had a devastating effect on her mental health, leading to self-harm and an overdose attempt.
Loveridge, who has no prior criminal record, pleaded guilty to the charge of rape and was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders' register for life.
He is also prohibited from participating in activities involving minors or vulnerable individuals.
The judge described his conduct as ignoring the victim’s protests and causing long-lasting damage.
A mitigation statement from his solicitor indicated remorse and concern about Loveridge’s capacity for such actions.
It was noted that he would have opportunities for rehabilitation during his time in prison.
