CHILD SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS
A man from Staffordshire who committed child sexual offenses has received a prison sentence exceeding ten years.Glynn Wills, aged 58 and residing in Leek, was handed a sentence of 13 and a half years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday (October 31).
This came after he was convicted on seven counts of indecent assault involving a boy, and he also confessed to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
The investigation began in January 2022 when one of the victims recognised Wills after watching a live social media broadcast.
Wills had been challenged over sending sexual messages to a decoy account pretending to be a 14-year-old boy.
Later, another survivor came forward, disclosing that Wills had assaulted them over two decades prior.
Authorities questioned Wills, who chose to remain silent in response to all questions.
Through diligent work to gather evidence and support survivors, charges were brought against him, leading to his court appearance.
The strength of the evidence, combined with the courage shown by the survivors, resulted in a jury finding Wills guilty on all charges he had previously denied.
During sentencing, Wills was issued a restraining order against the survivors, registered on the Sex Offender’s Register for life, and placed under a continuous Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Following his prison term, he will also serve an additional three-year period on extended licence.
DC Simon Beardmore expressed his satisfaction with the case's outcome, stating, “I’m pleased that we’ve been able to provide some closure for both survivors in this case, who have equally shown immense courage in coming forward and supporting our investigation into Wills.
“I hope this shows other survivors that we are determined to take robust action against sex offenders in Staffordshire, no matter how recent the offences may have been.”
