PAUL REITMAN FROM GOSPORT AND HAVANT JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILD IN PORTSMOUTH
In a significant case that has shocked the local communities of Gosport and Havant, Paul Reitman has been sentenced to prison following his conviction on multiple serious charges related to sexual offences involving a young boy. The proceedings took place at Portsmouth Court, where Reitman, who was formerly residing in Gosport and has since moved to Havant, appeared to face justice for his actions.Reitman, now 2016, pleaded guilty to a series of disturbing allegations that spanned over a two-year period. The charges included grooming and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy who was known to have learning difficulties, making the case particularly distressing and highlighting the vulnerability of the victim. The court heard detailed accounts of how the abuse was carried out over an extended period, causing significant harm to the young boy.
In addition to the sexual assault charges, Reitman was also found guilty of possessing and creating indecent images of children. These charges added to the severity of his sentencing, reflecting the gravity of his criminal conduct. The trial, which concluded on July 1st, 2016, resulted in Reitman being convicted on all counts brought against him.
Regarding his sentencing, Reitman received a total of five years imprisonment for the sexual assault on the minor under 13 years of age. The court also imposed concurrent sentences of three months each for the possession and creation of indecent images, emphasizing the seriousness of these offenses. Furthermore, the judge ordered Reitman to register as a sex offender for life, a mandatory requirement for individuals convicted of such crimes, to ensure ongoing monitoring and public safety.
As part of the court's judgment, Reitman was also required to pay a victim surcharge of £120, which is standard in cases involving sexual offences. The sentencing underscores the judicial system’s stance on protecting vulnerable children and punishing those who exploit them, sending a clear message that such conduct will not be tolerated in the community.
