MAN JAILED FOR 15 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN GOSPORT
A man has received a 15-year prison sentence after being convicted of child sex offences in Gosport.Police responded on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 3:25pm, following reports that an individual had entered into a sexual relationship with a minor under 16 years of age.
After a detailed investigation, Adrian Jason Cribb, aged 35 and residing on Green Crescent in Gosport, was charged with five separate offences that occurred between April 2021 and May 2022.
The charges included engaging in digital sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 15, participating in penetrative sexual acts with a girl aged 13 to 15, and committing these acts on at least five additional occasions besides the second charge.
He was also accused of two counts of rape involving a woman over 16.
Cribb was unanimously convicted by a jury in Portsmouth Crown Court on September 5.
On November 20, he appeared before the same court to be sentenced to 15 years in prison, along with a five-year extended license period.
His sentence includes a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order with strict conditions, an indefinite restraining order against the victim, and registration on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
During the sentencing, the judge acknowledged the bravery of the complainant and praised the professionalism of the intermediary who supported her during the trial.
Detective Constable Nick Sandford-Smith, from Operation Amberstone East, stated, “I hope this outcome clearly demonstrates the importance we place on these cases.
We urge other victims to come forward and report such crimes.
We treat allegations of this nature with the utmost seriousness and are dedicated to bringing offenders to justice.
Our commitment is to ensure that those who harm children are held accountable, and we pursue offenders relentlessly.”
