PAUL RANDLE FROM AMMANFORD SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY INVOLVING NEWBORN BABY

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Ammanford, a man with a previously unblemished record has been exposed as a shameless paedophile with a severe addiction to viewing child abuse images. Paul Randle, a former RAF serviceman, was found to possess an extensive collection of indecent images, including some of the most heinous and disturbing material involving newborn babies.

On the morning of November 6 last year, police officers executed a raid on Randle’s residence in Ammanford. The search yielded multiple electronic devices, including a Samsung tablet, which forensic investigations later revealed contained over 2,000 indecent images of children. These images were classified into categories A, B, and C, with Category A representing the most serious and depraved content. Among these was a particularly shocking image depicting a naked newborn baby being sexually abused by a woman.

In addition to the images found on the seized devices, authorities discovered a staggering 118,000 more images and videos stored across various other pieces of equipment. These additional files had not yet been examined or categorized by investigators. The police also uncovered evidence of extensive online activity involving Randle, including conversations about the sexual abuse of children conducted via platforms such as Skype and Kik. Randle’s online interactions revealed a disturbing pattern of engagement with known paedophile sites and the use of software designed to access the dark web, further highlighting the severity of his online activities.

During police interviews, Randle, aged 50 and residing on Saron Road in Ammanford, denied any involvement in downloading or sharing indecent images. He claimed that much of his computer equipment was purchased second-hand and insisted he was attempting to expose paedophiles online. Randle also asserted that the images were somehow related to his work, which involved IT, counter-intelligence, and security within the RAF police for over two decades. His explanations, however, were inconsistent, as he later claimed he was being blackmailed, adding to the suspicion surrounding his motives and actions.

Randle had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and three counts of distributing such images when he appeared before Swansea Crown Court for sentencing. The court was informed that he had no prior criminal convictions. The judge, Geraint Walters, described some of the images as “among the most appalling imaginable” and expressed profound disgust at the nature of the material. He emphasized the incomprehensibility of how anyone could derive sexual gratification from images of abused newborns, condemning Randle as a “shameless paedophile who is addicted to child pornography.”

Taking into account his guilty pleas, the judge reduced Randle’s sentence by one-third, resulting in a total prison term of two years and four months. Randle is expected to serve up to half of this sentence in custody before being released on licence, with the remainder to be served in the community under strict conditions. Additionally, he will be placed on the sex offenders register for the next ten years and subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the same period, which will restrict his access to the internet and other potential avenues for reoffending.
