PAUL PERRY FROM RUNCORN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TRAIN IN FRONT OF CHILDREN
In June 2018, a disturbing incident occurred on a train involving a man from Runcorn, Paul Perry, who subjected a mother and her children to a series of inappropriate and sexually charged comments.Perry, aged 37 and residing on Collier Street in Runcorn, engaged in a pattern of disgusting behavior while the train was traveling back from a day trip to Southport.
During the journey, Perry directed a barrage of sexual slurs and derogatory remarks at two women, who were accompanied by their young children.
His comments created a highly uncomfortable and distressing environment for everyone involved.
At one point, when one of the children began to cry, Perry made a callous remark suggesting that he would prefer not to travel in a nursery, displaying a blatant disregard for the well-being of the children present.
The victim initially dismissed Perry’s comments, believing him to be intoxicated.
However, his behavior escalated as he began mocking the way she spoke and continued to make lewd and offensive remarks about both women.
His inappropriate conduct persisted in front of the children until a fellow passenger intervened, asking Perry to cease his behavior.
As the mother attempted to move her child’s pram to the aisle, Perry approached her and proceeded to sexually assault her.
Fortunately, another passenger stepped in to stop the assault, preventing further harm.
The incident was reported to authorities, leading to Perry’s arrest and subsequent court proceedings.
On the day of sentencing at Liverpool Magistrates Court, Perry was handed a sentence of 20 weeks in jail for the sexual assault.
Additionally, he received an extra four-week sentence for assaulting a police officer on a separate occasion.
The court also ordered Perry to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and mandated that he sign the sex offender register for a period of seven years, reflecting the seriousness of his actions and the need for ongoing monitoring.
