MAN KNOWN FOR HIS VIOLENT AND CONTROLLING BEHAVIOUR HAS BEEN RELEASED FROM CUSTODY
A man known for his violent and controlling behaviour, who received a sentence of four years and eight months in January 2024, has now been released from custody.Victim Colette Law, a resident of Greenock, was found dead inside a tent on the grounds of St Mary and St Nicolas Church in Spalding, Lincolnshire, on July 17, 2023.
Her body remained undiscovered for a week, and the cause of death could not be definitively determined due to a delayed post-mortem.
It was established, however, that her partner, Paul Neilson, had attacked her harshly a few days before her death.
CCTV footage presented in court revealed some of the assaults Neilson committed against Ms Law shortly prior to her death.
Specifically, the footage showed Neilson kicking Ms Law twice on July 8 in Hall Place, Spalding.
Additionally, two other assaults occurred on July 10 in Spalding, where Neilson pushed her to the ground, resulting in actual bodily harm.
The body was discovered seven days later by paramedics conducting a search for another individual.
A subsequent post-mortem identified two brain bleeds in Ms Law, one more recent than the other.
Neilson, who showed no remorse, had deliberately misled law enforcement by lying about her whereabouts, falsely claiming she had returned to Scotland.
Though he initially denied any knowledge of her death, he later admitted that she was deceased.
He deliberately chose not to inform authorities.
The original murder charge was dropped, and instead, Neilson was convicted of one count of assault by beating, two counts of actual bodily harm, and one count of perverting the course of justice.
Currently, he is living in Kilmarnock under the alias Paul Moxley, with a Facebook account associated with that name.
